Re-surgence of the "surge" myth

The people who need to read and heed this article  won't read it, or, if they do, they'll dismiss it.  Still, we gotta try to educate those poor dimwits.

Official Washington loves the story – the Iraq War was failing until President George W. Bush bravely ordered a “surge” in 2007 that won the war, but President Obama squandered the victory, requiring a new “surge” now. Except the narrative is dangerous make-believe.
As American politicians and editorial writers resume their tough talk about sending more U.S. troops into Iraq, they are resurrecting the “successful surge” myth, the claim that President George W. Bush’s dispatch of 30,000 more soldiers in 2007 somehow “won” the war – a storyline that is beloved by the neocons because it somewhat lets them off the hook for starting the disaster in the first place.
But just because Official Washington embraces a narrative doesn’t make it true. Bush’s “surge” was, in reality, a dismal — an unconscionable — failure. It did not achieve its ostensible aim — the rationale Bush eventually decided to give it — namely, to buy time for Iraq’s Sunnis and Shiites to reconcile.

Rather, it did just the opposite, greatly exacerbating antagonisms between them. That result was clearly predicted before the “surge” by none other than Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, top U.S. military leaders, and even the Washington Establishment-heavy Iraq Study Group, all of which were pressing for less — not more — military involvement.

In one very important sense, however, the “surge” into Iraq was wildly successful in achieving what was almost certainly its primary aim. It bought President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney a “decent interval” so they could leave office without an explicit military defeat sullying their legacy – and for the “acceptable” price of “only” 1,000 more U.S. dead.

Let's see if I understand this

Thirty-six-year-old Kevin Allen of Lyndhurst, N.J., was shot dead by police in the local Lyndhurst Public Library of all places, Friday afternoon, allegedly for menace toward the officers who’d first deemed him “suspicious” and attempted to approach Allen outside the library shortly before the fatal incident took place on the upper-most floor.

White men carrying loaded firearms parade around outside a mosque in Phoenix, threatening people who attend the mosque.  Not a one of them is even arrested.

Let's see if I understand this:  Black man in NJ shot to death because cops say he had a utility knife.  Heavily-armed white men in Phoenix are allowed to walk around threatening people, not one of them arrested.

Has there ever been a Republican who was not a piece of shit?

Remember back a few years ago when the GOP-dominated House passed a bill of impeachment against President Clinton?  Remember that?  How about we check out some of the Republican criminals who led the charge against an innocent President -- every one of them worshiped by the Tea Party.

First comes Newt Gingrich -- you know -- Newtie who believes that marriage is between ONE man and ONE woman and ANOTHER woman and ANOTHER woman and . . .

Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) led the push for Bill Clinton’s impeachment. Following a disappointing election in November 1998, he announced he was stepping down as Speaker and resigning from Congress.

Gingrich later admitted that, while he was pushing for Clinton’s impeachment, he was engaged in an affair with a Congressional aide. “There were times when I was praying and when I felt I was doing things that were wrong. But I was still doing them,” Gingrich said in 2007. He later said the situation was “complex and, obviously, I wasn’t doing things to be proud of.”  Sure thing, Newt, sure thing.  Then whythefuck did you continue doing these things that you had done your whole life??

Then there's the reprehensible, two-faced hypocrite Bob Livingston of Louisiana.

After Gingrich announced his resignation, Republicans unanimously selected Rep. Bob Livingston (R-LA) to succeed him. Livingston represented the party as Speaker-elect in the led up to the impeachment vote.

On the day of the impeachment vote, Livingston announced he was resigning following revelations that he had engaged in an extramarital affair. According to Hustler Magazine Publisher Larry Flint, who offered a reward for information about the sex lives of members of Congress, he “found four women who said they had been involved with Mr. Livingston over the last 10 years.”

Finally, the third of our GOP hypocrites is former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.

Following Livingston’s resignation, which occurred on the same day the House voted on impeachment, Rep. Dennis Hastert (R-IL) quickly gained support of the Republican leadership to succeed him as Speaker-designate. He began formally serving as speaker in January 1999, and held that role while the Senate conducted their trial on the articles of impeachment.

On Thursday, 28 May 2015,  Hastert was indicted on charges that he illegally structured $1.7 million in payments to an individual in an attempt to cover up prior misconduct. According to reports, the payments were allegedly intended to “conceal sexual abuse against a former male student he knew during his days as a teacher in Yorkville, Ill.” The LA Times also reported that “investigators also spoke with a second man who raised similar allegations that corroborated what the former student said.”

I rest my case.

Here's a story you will NEVER see on Fox or on any other part of the rightwing noise machine

Sikhs (from India) are not permitted by their religion to cut their hair, shave their beards, or remove their turban.  Here's a story about one Sikh man who violated his own religious teachings to help a little kid in distress.

This story is important because Sikhs often are mistaken for Muslims and attacked because of their beards and turbans.   No doubt you won't hear a word about this from Fox.

Want to read some really, really sick shit being pushed onto home schooled children??

Want to see what the rightwingnuts offer up as an alternative to public schools?  Well, folks, here it is -- think about this the next time you read some wingnut ranting about the evils of Common Core.

Did you know that non-spousal sperm causes cancer? Well according to materials from the Advanced Training Institute's home school curriculum, it does -- it really, really does -- and, remember, this is the curriculum the Tea Party and home schoolers push as a "Christian alternative" to that evil Common Core (this is the same curriculum the Duggar family used to learn all about sex and its many dangers).  Here's a quote:

Doctors have discovered that the seed of the man is an alien substance to the woman. It triggered responses similar to those of an “allergic” reaction. A woman who has a husband is able to develop “immunity” to this reaction; however, a promiscuous woman’s immune system becomes confused and unable to distinguish alien substances. This confusion is a key to the development of cancer.

I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that this refers to HPV which can cause cervical cancer. However, this is not due to the fact that a man's seed is "alien" to woman but rather due to the fact that the man picked up a dose from one of the other woman with whom he was sharing that seed.

Of course all of this potential cancer is caused by lust. And lust is bad, bad, bad, bad, bad. (It really helps if you read that in the voice of Gomer Pyle.)

Armor of God, does that work better than a condom?

And medical diseases and diseases of the soul are linked.  More quotes:
Diseases of the body usually have their counterpart in diseases of the soul. There is, in fact, an intimate relationship between the health of the soul and the health of the body.

By understanding the workings of a disease in one realm we can often gain significant insight to a corresponding disease in the other realm.

Ah, the old "bad things happen to sinners" argument.

This was a popular idea in the 16th century. Hard to believe that it is being taught to children in the 21st, but, then, this is home schoolers and Teabaggers we're talking about here.

And remember men are not to blame when a woman is raped because of, well, you know, because of the gangrene of lust and all:

When a man looks lustfully at a woman, a flood of impulses travels through the optic nerve to the back of the brain. As a result, the glands and other bodily functions are activated, and the level of testosterone increases.

Recent studies revealed a significant correlation between high testosterone levels and those who commit violent crimes.
Sort of like that flood of impulses that ran through Josh Duggar's body as he was fondling his little sisters' breasts and genitals.

This is EXACTLY the same rationale used in Muslim countries to convince women that an exposed elbow or ankle will drive a perfectly reasonable man crazy and fill him with the urge to rape her and every other female he can find.

It's never the man's fault, it's the old "the Devil made me do it" excuse.  And here I thought home schoolers, Teabaggers, and rightwingnutjobs were all about PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

Tea Party hypocrisy on display in Texas

More examples of Tea Party hypocrisy in action.  Damn, but you people are losers.

Remember back when Hurricane Sandy hit the NE US and Tea Party favorite Senator Ted Cruz of Texas voted against disaster aid to the affected areas -- need to balance the budget and stop deficit spending, he said.  Well, now that Texas is being slammed with rains and floods, guess who is the FIRST Senator to come begging for relief money from the feds?

And -- you know that on-going horseshit about Exercise Jade Helm and how the Tea Party in Texas is convinced it's a cover for Obama to declare martial law in Texas and put everyone in "FEMA concentration camps?"  Guess who is at the front of the line,  begging the feds to put them in FEMA camps!!!

Texans are notorious for their suspicion of the federal government. From the Jade Helm 15 conspiracy to the constant Republican whining about “big government” and President Obama’s secret plans to take everybody’s guns away, it’s no surprise that studies show that 57% of Texans have an unfavorable view of the federal government. Perhaps that’s why Governor Abbott failed to mention the President’s phone call offering FEMA’s support during the his press conference on Tuesday. FEMA is already on the ground, working with state officials to coordinate the response and recovery efforts, and victims left homeless are clamoring for Governor Abbot and Texas Republicans to accept federal disaster assistance from President Obama and FEMA.

1,200 Texas residents have had their homes washed away by the raging floods, and are in desperate need of temporary housing- and the situation isn’t going to improve any time soon. “We’re very vulnerable right now,” said County Commissioner Will Conley of Hays County in Central Texas. “We are preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. … If we were to receive a small amount of rain, we could be right back into an emergency situation.”

As flood warnings sound once again over Houston, just days after the first storms ravaged the city and surrounding counties, Texans are placed in an uncomfortable position. Senator Ted Cruz, the Tea Party fanatic who shut down the government over the budget and voted against Hurricane Sandy relief money because it was “wasteful”, has suddenly found himself calling for the federal government to “fulfill its statutory obligations” and provide disaster relief assistance.

In theme that recurs among Republicans states across the Midwest, the incredible irony is that for all the complaints about federal interference and the overreach of “big government”, Texas is the number one recipient of federal disaster funds. Forty-six Texas counties are currently under a state of emergency. During the 2011-2012 years, Texas received over give billion dollars in federal relief money- effectively subsidizing their climate change denial and refusal to prepare for a rapidly changing world.

As usual, the Tea Partiers show their stupidity and hypocrisy.

"Survivalists" are a combination of stupid, loony, bizzare, and sick.

This shit is getting out of hand.  Once upon a time, a survivalist was your nutty neighbor who had a place in the mountains to which he would retreat when "the guvmint" became too oppressive.

Today's survivalist is fire-breathing, knuckle-dragging, rightwingnutjob, typically a Tea Partier,  who is convinced that the person in the White House is an illegal alien and a Muslim.

Today's survivalist believes the Final Day is upon us -- the day when society collapses and it's every person for themselves.

Today's survivalist believes that with an AR-15 rifle, 1,000 rounds of ammo, a 55-gallon drum of wheat, and a diesel generator, he and his family can survive any calamity, even the End of The World.

Sure thing, you clown, sure thing!!!!!!

The Josh Duggar pedophilia case grows deeper by the day

By now everyone knows that Josh Duggar molested his own sisters and other little girls for some time when he was 14 or so.  He even joked about "sibling sex." And, by now we all know his parents, JimBob and Michelle Duggar, covered up the crime by turning him over to their church "elders" who prayed over him then pronounced him forgiven.  Of course, no one in this sick family or their equally sick associates thought anything about the mental and emotional scars left on the little girls.  After all, in the Duggar/Quiverfull/evangelical world, women are good only for producing babies.

Now we discover the Josh Duggar pedophile case has LONG tentacles.

Josh went for "treatment" to an evangelical center whose director later resigned in the midst of a sex scandal of his own.

Then we discover the "treatment" center was one of a chain of such places funded by the billionaire owner of Hobby Lobby -- you know, the guy who does not want his female employees to use birth control.

Mike Huckabee -- GOP Presidential wannabee -- said we should leave Josh Duggar alone.  After all, boys will be boys.  Mike's supporters are leaving him in droves because of his support for pedophilia.

Huckabee is not the only Republican Presidential hopeful who supports Josh Duggar.

The Duggars are members and huge supporters of the "Quiverfull" movement.  Quiverfull is a bizarre evangelical cult that directs women to submit themselves totally to their husbands and to produce one baby after another.  Occasionally, a woman escapes from a Quiverfull family to tell the truth about this evil cult.

One of Josh's favorite pastimes was to lecture the rest of us on "family values."

Arkansas police destroyed their reports on Josh Duggar molesting little girls -- but things like this live forever on the Internet.

Josh Duggar and his wife owe back taxes in the five figures, yet, they were able to buy a huge house in Arkansas -- a house that's big enough to hold a dozen or so children.  And the evil that is the Duggars and Quiverfull likely will continue and be passed on to the next generations.

Anne Graham Lotz: Just another biblethumping huckster -- Mayday!! Mayday!!! The world is coming to an end!! Send money!!!

Normally when someone insists that they have a direct line to God you get a little concerned for them. It could be the old voices in the head syndrome, or perhaps a touch of megalomania. In Anne Graham Lotz’s case, it appears to be an escalation of her business plan, as the daughter of the Rev. Billy Graham is going around shouting MayDay! MayDay!, warning people that The Rapture is just around the corner.

Lotz is smart enough not to be pulling a Harold Camping, the late Oakland-based preacher, and founder of the highly profitable Family Radio stations, who actually set the date (May 21, 2011) for The Rapture, which of course didn’t happen. Even after he reset the date for October 21, 2011, there was no rapture. Unfortunately, more than a handful of followers took his predictions to heart, sold their stuff, moved away from their families, and hunkered down waiting for zero hour. A bus filled with Camping followers toured the country warning people that the end was near. Zero hour never came. Asd it turned out, the REAL policy was: “No Rapture, no tribulation, no earthquake, and ... no refunds.”

There is no shortage of End Timers, preachers who see the End of Times in just about anything; earthquakes, tsunamis, the rise of ISIS, Obama’s election and re-election. Pastor John Hagee, the proprietor over a multi-million-dollar multi-media enterprise and mega-church based in San Antonio, Texas, wrote a book linking the End Times to “blood moon” eclipses.

Lotz herself has been down this road before: After the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, she wrote a column stating that the plane’s disappearance could be a sign of the coming of The Rapture.

These days, Lotz claims to be in direct contact with God. According to onenewsnow.com’s Michael F. Haverluck, “The gravity of two powerful messages from God — given in Joel 1:1 and Joel 2:17 — has been something that has weighed on her [Lotz] heart so heavily that she knew God was calling her to put America on high alert.”

“The impact on me was profound,” the daughter of world-renowned evangelist Billy Graham recently explained on her web site (http://www.annegrahamlotz.org). “Both times, when I stepped off of the platform, I knew God had spoken.”

“The messages almost made the hair stand up on the back of my neck,” Lotz continued. “Why? Because God was clearly warning that His judgment is coming on America and on our world, and it’s going to be ugly. I knew it then, and I know it now.”

While Lotz, the president and founder of AnGel Ministries and the author of a number of books, is savvy enough not to set the date, nevertheless she insists she’s seeing signs of the End Times, and she is confident that it will happen in her lifetime (she recently turned 67). In a recent interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, Lotz spoke about her prayer initiative called “Mayday! Mayday: A Distress Call For Prayer,” which was scheduled to run from May 15 to the 23rd, a project encouraging Americans to pray to God for repentance ahead of the End Times.

"I picked these dates, the 15th through the 23rd because they are the days in between the ascension of Jesus and Pentecost on the church calendar," she explained. "And biblically, if you remember, the disciples went into the upstairs room, they prayed for those nine days, and one of the things I know they prayed for was that God would keep His promise and send down the Holy Spirit in fullness, which of course He did that at the Feast of Pentecost."

Lotz stated: "So the birth pains [detailed in the Book of Joel as evidence that the End Times are near], the signs that Jesus gives, whether it is in the environmental world or national world, the wars, or the persecution of Christians, the persecution of Jews, when we see that ratcheting up and increasing in frequency and in intensity in the same generation that sees the Gospel being preached to the whole world and Israel reborn as a nation, that's the generation that is the last."

"I believe with deep conviction that is my generation," Lotz continued. "I was born just a week apart from the time when Israel was reborn as a nation [1948]. We are the same age. And I believe that if I live out my lifetime, a natural lifetime, I believe I will live to see the return of Jesus in the Rapture when He comes back to take us to be with Himself, which means preceding that there are going to be some signs. There are going to be some warnings."

This latest warning is probably the most definitive statement about The Rapture that Lotz has ever made. According to The Christian Post’s Samuel Smith, “Lotz compared God's impending judgment to the 10 plagues God cast upon ancient Egypt. She added that even the Israelites were subject to the first three plagues that God cast upon the pharaoh and his land. Similarly, Lotz said the church is likely to face some kind judgment, even if God protects the church from his full wrath.”

Of course the fact that the hair may be standing up on Anne Graham’ Lotz’s neck, and that she’s going around shouting MayDay!MayDay! doth not make the End Times so. What is fascinating, however, is how much space the Christian-based media continues to give her. The American Family Association’s OneNewsNow news service, The Christian Post, the Christian Examiner, Charisma News, the Christian Broadcasting Network all accord her a certain amount of respect, not to mention uncritical articles and interviews. The much-maligned late Harold Camping never got such royal treatment. Of course, Camping was unwise to go out on a limb with actual rapture dates, and, to top it off, he wasn’t a member of the Rev. Billy Graham’s family.

What are the lessons from the Duggar child molestation case?

By now, the story is everywhere. Reality TV son Josh Duggar has had to step down as executive director of Family Research Council Action and apologize for having molested several underage girls, including his own sisters, when he himself was 14 years old. The fact that Josh Duggar was 14 years old at the time weighs heavily with me, and I think should with all of us. The question is how his family—especially 19 Kids and Counting patriarch Jim Bob Duggar—responded to Josh's actions at the time and took steps to ensure that his pattern of sexual abuse wouldn't continue, and what the family learned from the experience as they went on to become national figures. The answer to the first question appears to be "badly and inadequately," and the answer to the second appears to be "not much."

When they realized that their oldest son was molesting younger girls, sometimes while they slept, the adult Duggars disciplined him. When it continued:

Jim Bob then “met with the elders of his church and told them what was going on.” No one alerted the police or any other law enforcement agency. Instead they decided to send Josh to a “program [that] consisted of hard physical work and counseling. James said that [redacted, Josh] was in the program from March 17, 2003 until July 17, 2003.” He said the program was a “Christian program.” Michelle Duggar later admitted to police that Josh did not receive counseling and instead had been sent during that time to a family friend who was in the home remodeling business.
Jim Bob and church elders subsequently took Josh to a state trooper for a "very stern talk," but didn't officially report the incidents. When police were later tipped off, the statute of limitations had expired. So Josh never faced legal trouble and he never got counseling.

These are people who hold themselves up, and who are held up on television, as models of sexual morality. For many observers it was clear before now that Duggar morality is founded on repression, but this adds secrecy and total lack of accountability to that score. Most importantly, it's clear that none of them—not Jim Bob, Michelle, or Josh—developed any compassion or hesitation about condemning others as a result of this.

Josh Duggar's career has been more or less as a spokesman for bigotry. It's obvious he didn't learn the lesson that he, as a child molester, was not in a position to judge others for their loving, consensual, adult relationships. So it may be worth asking if he learned the lesson that he shouldn't sexually assault people—true, his parents didn't even try to teach him not to judge others, but it doesn't seem like they tried all that hard to turn him away from his predatory behavior, either.

For what it's worth, Mike Huckabee, who the Duggars endorsed and campaigned for in the 2008 Republican presidential primary, is standing by Josh. Then again, even without a valued endorsement on the line, Huckabee has ample reason to want the things fine young Christian men do as teens to be erased from memory.

UPDATE:  CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS??  All court records from the Duggar molestation case were destroyed on Friday, 22 May 2015, by order of the local judge!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To those outside the Evangelical Christian bubble, the nature of Josh Duggar's criminal actions are seriously disturbing, as are the actions of the Duggar family and the Arkansas criminal justice system in covering them up.

However, within the closed, insular, and perverted universe of today's "Conservative Christian" movement, Ted Nugent's enthusiastic songs and statements about having sex with underage girls have been completely ignored. We've seen Phil Robertson, patriarch of the Duck Commander morons extolling the virtues of wedding and bedding underage girls with nary a peep of protest from supposed "family values Christians". And, perhaps most disgustingly, we get to hear Republican Christians not only downplay the brutal nature of rape while joyfully celebrating the pregnancies that result, but also sponsor legislation and policies that give rapists legal access to the children their victims have given birth to.

In other words, as long as the sexual predators are white males and the victims are female, "family values Christians" and Republicans will make excuses for it. Why? Because similar kinds of actions are repeatedly described approvingly in the Old Testament. They only give a shit about sex when it involves people of the same sex.

This horrible story will have very short legs not just within the Evangelical Christian and conservative movements (not that there's any real separation between the two), but also within the non-Fox mainstream media. The quivering, ignorant, lazy stenographers who make up the vast majority of the nation's "professional journalists" are petrified at the prospect of going after the "Christian" hypocrites who effectively control today's Republican Party.

ANOTHER UPDATE.  The Arkansas court may have ordered the records destroyed, but, on the Internet, things live forever.

Here's a link to the Josh Duggar court records!!!

AND ANOTHER UPDATE.  Here is an excellent article that addresses the Duggars as an example of the evil that exists and that is being promulgated by the closed world of evangelical families.  I will not reproduce the entire article here -- go to this link -- below are the five main points of the article.

 #1 - The Duggars are “Pro-life.”

#2 - The Duggars believe that, under God, the FAMILY is the highest authority, particularly Daddy.

#3 - The Duggars frame dysfunction, abuse, and psychopathology in terms of sin, repentance, forgiveness, and grace … oh, and DEMONS.

#4 - The Duggars embrace Evangelical Christian teachings on “modesty.”

#5 - The Duggars believe that a benevolent God is intimately involved in every aspect of their lives and He is working all circumstances out for their ultimate good.

And here is the powerful conclusion of the article:

JimBob and Michelle Duggar live in a fantasy world of their own making, and they believe that, just like in the fairy tales, they all will live happily ever after. While confessing to not being a perfect family, and admitting their family faces challenges and struggles every day, the Duggars are convinced “that dark and difficult time caused [the family] to seek God like never before,” which in their minds, means the molestation really wasn’t so bad, and in fact, has turned out to be a kind of blessing in disguise since each one of them “drew closer to God,” as a result of “something so terrible.”

According to the “eternally happy ending” story which the Duggars are telling themselves, the little girls whom Josh allegedly groped and fondled are not victims or even survivors of sexual abuse, but are instead equated with the “highly favored” Old Testament Joseph whose brothers sold him into slavery: What Satan meant for evil, God used for good.

Suffering in this life is insignificant - even trifling - compared to the faith-strengthening and soul-saving purpose of trials which will be richly rewarded with eternal life in Heaven … so praise the fucking Lord for whatever misery He sends to you and your children.

The Duggar delusion is so deeply ingrained that even in the midst of this horrifying revelation, JimBob and Michelle are hoping that the onlooking world will be inspired by their family’s witness: “We hope somehow the story of our journey — the good times and the difficult times — cause you to see the kindness of God and learn that He can bring you through anything.”

Um … no, JimBob and Michelle, I don’t see the kindness of God. All I see is the most twisted and insidious spiritual abuse which minimizes, rationalizes, and even glorifies the sexual assault of children.

Stop. Please, just stop. Quit trying to spin this situation into a pretty story. Do not attempt to salvage your “Reality” TV program. Go home and “focus on your family”: get some legitimate, professional help for yourselves and your children. You have a quiver full of kids counting on you to stop the delusion and self-deception. For their sakes, do not allow your legacy to be the prolific multiplication of mania.

Rightwing hero Josh Duggar, fresh from lecturing the rest of us on sexual purity, molested little girls, including his own sisters.

Read this article -- here are the lead-in paragraphs.

Josh Duggar, a reality TV star on TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” and the oldest child of the Duggar clan, admitted that he sexually molested several young girls as a teenager.  Duggar only owned up to his conduct after records of a police investigation were obtained by In Touch Magazine. He was never prosecuted because, by the time he was reported to the authorities, the statute of limitations had expired.

Prior to his admission on Thursday night, Duggar spent years crisscrossing the country as a spokesman for “traditional values.” Duggar took a job as executive director of the Family Research Council’s political arm in 2013. In that role, which he resigned on Thursday, Duggar argued that marriage equality and abortion rights — among other things — were destroying the values that he and his family embodied.

Josh Duggar is one of the 19 children of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar; the family is featured on the "reality" TV show "19 Kids and Counting."  The Duggars are held up by rightwingers, including Tea Partiers, as an example of how the rest of us should live -- thumping on their Bibles, telling everyone else how to live, you know the kind.

And now we find that: (1) he molested several little girls, including his own sisters; (2) has parents and the "elders" at this church covered up for him; and, (3) he has made a good living traveling around the country telling the rest of us how evil homosexuals are.

Can you imagine the outrage, the foaming at the mouth, the shrieks and cries from the rightwing if he were a Democrat?

Let's hope TLC cancels this bizarre series.

Meanwhile, this is just one more example of rightwing hypocrisy.

If you were born after 2001, the US has been at war 100 PERCENT of your life

Check out this graph.  If you can't read it, go to this link where it's much larger.

This chart plots the years between 1915 and 2015 and adds the number of years the US has been at war.  For example, I was born in 1944 -- the US has been at war for 43% of my life.  For anyone born between 2001 and 2015, the country has been at war 100% of their life.

A LOT of Republican presidential hopefuls had their picture taken with a child molester.

Exactly WTF would the rightwing noise machine say if several Democratic Presidential candidates had been photographed with a child molester -- who admitted to molesting his own sisters?  You know the answer to that question.

Well, now that it's been revealed that Josh Duggar -- one of the 19 Duggar children from the wackadoodle "reality " TV show "19 Kids and Counting" -- molested several little girls, including his own sisters.

And Republican presidential hopefuls lined up to be photographed with this pedophile.  Read all about here.

What do you bet:

What do you bet this jackass is single and women avoid him like a bad habit?

Reagan, Bush official says Fox makes Republicans dumb. He's just now discovering this???

A study, authored by Bruce Bartlett, who worked in the Treasury Department under George H. W. Bush and was also a domestic policy adviser to Ronald Reagan, found that Fox viewers tended to be less informed about current affairs than people who watch mainstream news -- and even people who don't watch the news at all.
"Republican voters get so much of their news from Fox, which cheerleads whatever their candidates are doing or saying, that they suffer from wishful thinking and fail to see that they may not be doing as well as they imagine, or that their ideas are not connecting outside the narrow party base," Bartlett said.
Citing a host of other studies, Bartlett found that Fox News viewers tended to have misguided beliefs about the Iraq War, the Affordable Care Act and other major issues. He also noted that Fox's audience tended to hold a bias against Muslims.
"It appears that right-wing bias, including inaccurate reporting, became commonplace on Fox," Bartlett said.
The article goes on to say that this is especially concerning because "many conservatives now refuse to even listen to any news or opinion not vetted through Fox, and to believe whatever appears on it as the gospel truth."

That means any opinions which disagree with Fox or conservative talk radio are considered biased, and not worth their time.

Of course, anyone has a family member or friend who is a Fox-o-phile knew this already.  People who depend on Fox are dumb and proud of the fact.

Fatherless, welfare-cheat thugs challenge cops, lose

By now everyone is familiar with the biker gang shootout in Waco, TX, that resulted in nine lard-assed bikers dead, 170 arrested, and biker gangs now threatening the cops.

As I watched the video of these losers seated on the curb, waiting to have their hands cuffed behind their backs, cursing and swearing at the cops, I wondered:
-- Did these thugs come from fatherless homes?
-- Were they all reared by single mothers on welfare?
-- Why don't they have jobs?

I mean, after all, that's what the Tea Baggers and Republicans and other fools tell us every time a black man confronts the cops.

I'm confused

As of mid-May the rightwing noise machine is all a-twitter about the Clintons and their money.

The Clintons made $25 million in the past year.  Combined, Bill and Hillary Clinton have a net worth of around $55million.  BAD!!!!  BAD!!!!  EVIL!!!!  INVESTIGATE!!!! OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!!

Mitt Romney is worth around $380,000,000 -- that's $380 million, that's 7 times the Clintons' net worth.  THAT'S FREEDOM AND CAPITALISM AT WORK!!!!!!

I'm confused.

Anna (Keller) Duggar is pregnant for the fourth time in as many years

Anna Keller Duggar is married to Josh Duggar of 19 kids and counting.
The woman next to Anna is her sister Priscilla who is married to David Waller, a pecan thief.  And if you can read the pecan thief story without puking, well, you're a better man than I am, Gunga Din.

Both sisters are pregnant . . . again and again and again.

Would somebody spay and neuter these people?

Repubs to let Fox select next President

You need to read this.

WASHINGTON — Republican leaders, searching for a fair-minded but strategically wise way to conduct the presidential primary debates, are grappling with how to manage White House contenders in a sprawling field that mixes proven politicians with provocateurs and reflects an increasingly fractious party.

The Republican National Committee's decision  last year to claim control of the 2016 debate process was welcomed by many in the party who believed that Mitt Romney, the 2012 nominee, was hurt by both the pummeling and the positions he took during the 20 debates in that primary contest.
But by trying to impose order through party-sanctioned debates and limiting the number of forums, the party may have begotten an equally messy problem: who to include on stage for a 90-minute debate from a field of nearly 20 potential candidates.

As the national committee gathers in Arizona this week for its spring meeting, it will discuss how to determine the candidates who will make the cut for the first official debate, which is set for Aug. 6 in Cleveland and will air on Fox News. But there is already a robust discussion behind the scenes, with candidates who are lagging in early polls nudging the party to take an inclusive approach in the initial forums.

It is not entirely clear who will be in charge of devising or enforcing the debate criteria — that is, if there are criteria. One member of the national committee panel charged with overseeing the debates said its members had discussed ceding the decision entirely to Fox News. (Emphasis added.)
Let's see if I understand this.  The Republican Party is considering turning over to a cable TV network the process of selecting a candidate for the most important elected office in the world.  And not to just any cable TV network, but, to FOX, masters of lying, misleading, fudging the facts, and making up shit.

Think about it.  Let it sink in.

The geogrpahy of white teenaged pregnancy: When you point at someone, you have three fingers pointing back at yourself.

Now isn't this interesting.

Thirty states track the race and ethnicity of pregnant teenage mothers.  Of the nine with the highest rates for pregnant white teenagers, eight of them are Southern Baptists.

The most stupid thing to come out of Texas EVER -- and that's saying a lot

Along with chemtrails, Common Core, Eric Holder's martial law, and a dozen or more other wackadoodle conspiracies the Tea Party is in love with, we must now add the single most bizarre Tea Party, wingnut, Republican conspiracy:  JADE HELM 15.

JADE HELM 15 is a military exercise being conducted in several SW states by US Special Operations forces.  It's been in the planning stages for a couple of years. For exercise purposes, some states represent "enemy" territory, others are "friendly" while some are "neutral."  A few private citizens in these states have agreed to play the part of the "enemy," "friendly," or "neutral" populations.  Private landowners have agreed to allow the military to use parts of their property for exercise activities, camps, commo stations, and the like.

Cue the theme music from "The Twilight Zone!"

According to Texas Governor Greg Abbott and a few of his batshit crazy friends -- Senator Calgary Ted Cruz and the dumbest man in Congress, Louie Gohmert, as well as has-been actor Chuck Norris -- and the Tea Party -- JADE HELM 15 is a cover for Obama's military occupation of Texas in which Texans will be arrested, guns confiscated, the state government arrested, and martial law declared.  Governor Abbot has gone so far as to order the Texas National Guard to "monitor" the exercise and be prepared to defend Texas.

One of the most bizarre claims is this.  A few weeks ago, WalMart announced they are closing five stores in Texas.  Now -- according the the doorknob lickers -- these stores were closed because FEMA has tunnels beneath the stores that will be used to hold arrested Texans.  Other wingnuts, probably after drinking paint thinner, are claiming there have been "sightings" of trains and trucks carrying "shackles" with which to restrain those arrested.  (STOP LAUGHING -- I'm not making up any of this shit.)

Texas has given us some truly stupid, bizarre dingbats -- Greg Abbot, George W. Bush, Louie Gohmert, Ted Cruz to name a few.  But THIS is the stupidiest thing to come out of Texas EVER.

Anyone with half a brain realizes that the U.S. military is not planning to invade Texas and declare martial law there, that the Department of Defense does not consider Utah hostile territory, and that the enemies of liberty do not generally announce their coups in press releases before they execute them. On the other hand, there are those people who, as children in school, rode the short bus and licked the windows.

Or maybe JADE HELM is a plot to give Texas back to Mexico?  We can always hope.

On the other hand, I wonder why the rightwingerdingers are so upset?  After all, they are the ones who demand that the US invade a dry, hot, sunny area that is filled with gunnuts and religious zealots -- Texas sounds like the perfect place.

American exceptionalism: We are one of the worst places in the world to be a mother.

On the eve of Mother's Day, let's pause a moment to consider American exceptionalism -- you know, the chant from the rightwing about how the USA is truly exceptional.  Turns out, we truly are exceptional -- we are the worst developed country in the world to be a mother.

America is the worst developed country in the world to be a mother, ranking 61st globally in maternal health, a groundbreaking analysis of global health inequalities has found.

The US performed worse than last year, when it was in 31st place overall. This year it is 33rd. Although it did well on economic and educational status, according to this year's Mother's Index the country lags behind on children's well-being, where it is 42nd, and on maternal health, ranking 61st.

A woman in the United States is more than 10 times as likely as a woman in Austria, Belarus or Poland to die from a pregnancy-related cause, according to a comprehensive report, State of the World's Mothers 2015, published by Save the Children.

Women in the US face a 1 in 1,800 risk of childbirth-related death. It's the worst performance of any developed country in the world, the report, released ahead of Mother's Day, celebrated on the second Sunday in May, has warned.

Save the Children also scrutinized infant mortality rates in 25 capital cities of wealthy countries and found that Washington DC had the highest, at 6.6 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2013. This rate is a historic low for the District of Columbia, but is still three times the rates in Tokyo and Stockholm. In 2012, the district had an infant mortality rate of 7.9 deaths per 1,000 live births (while Stockholm or Oslo had infant mortality rates at or below 2.0, according to the report.)

Many major American cities, meanwhile, have even higher infant mortality rates. In 2011, Cleveland and Detroit reported infant mortality rates of 14.1 and 12.4 per 1,000 live births, respectively.

But, hey, why do we give a shit about mothers when we need to reduce taxes on the wealthy and cut out food stamps, child health care, pre-natal care, Planned Parenthood, and the like in order to not balance the budget?

Should have seen this coming: GOP congressman promises endless "investigations" into Clintons

A Republican congressman from Texas gave a preview of  what can be expected in the months leading up  to the 2016 election — and possibly beyond —  promising that the GOP plans on launching multiple investigations into the lives of presumptive 2016 presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

Speaking on the Sam Malone Show, Rep. Ted Poe (R) said there would be so many investigations, “We need to hire a whole department just to investigate the Clintons,” in audio captured by Right Wing Watch.

During Bill Clinton’s presidential term that lasted from 1993 to 2001, Republicans launched multiple investigation into the couple failing to turn up anything other than a dalliance between the president and an intern.

According to Poe, the largely discredited exposé on the Clinton Foundation, Peter Schweizer’s “Clinton Cash,” would form the foundation of yet another investigation into the Clintons.

“That’s not going away. I believe Congress will investigate one more scandal, ” Poe explained. “Yes, there’s going to be some investigations about it.”

Prompted by Malone, saying there’s a “holding pattern of scandals trying to land, going back to Fast and Furious,” the Republican agreed saying, “The Justice Department has quit being objective.”

Poe also cited former Attorney General Eric Holder, whom he claims “Refuses to investigate certain people and the Clinton’s happen to be one of those.”

God must be punishing Kansas and Oklahoma for electing Republicans

Remember back when Hurricane Katrina devastated huge areas of New Orleans?  Remember how rightwing biblethumping assholes such as Pat Robertson told us Katrina was punishment for all the sin in New Orleans -- especially because NO had recently hosted a gay pride parade?  Remember that?

So -- what's the explanation for the tornadoes that tore apart Kansas and Oklahoma tonight?  Probably God's wrath because both states are controlled by Republicans.

These kids don't need any "sex education classes" -- they seem to be doing just fine without it

A small Texas high school has notified parents that it was dealing with a chlamydia outbreak.
Officials from the Crane Independent School District confirmed that the state health department was sending a letter to Crane High School parents informing that at least 20 cases had been reported. The school has an enrollment of about 300 students.
While chlamydia can be cured, it can cause permanent damage to the reproductive system if left untreated.
According to the Crane Independent School District Student Handbook for 2014-2015, the district “does not offer a curriculum in human sexuality.” In 2012, the district’s School Health Advisory Committee had recommended Scott & White’s “Worth the Wait” Abstinence Plus curriculum if a sexual education policy was adopted.
In fact, Texas state law requires any sex-ed course to devote more attention to abstinence than any other behavior. And students must be taught that abstinence until marriage is the best way to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.
According to local media, Crane High School does offer three days of sexual education during the fall semester. The district’s Schools Health Advisory Committee planned to meet on Monday to discuss how to deal with the chlamydia outbreak.
Dallas County Health and Human Services records show that sexually transmitted diseases have spiked in recent years. Syphilis diagnoses increased 31 percent between 2012 and 2013. And according to the CDC, the South had 8 of the 11 states with the highest rates of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis.
No need to teach these kids the facts of sexually-transmitted diseases.  Just tell 'em "Don't Do It" and they'll be just fine.
Sure thing.

Baltimore: The truth is emerging -- slowly, but it's emerging

One of the cops charged with murdering Freddie Gray has a history of mental problems and domestic abuse.  And this guy carries a badge and a gun with permission to use both!!!

Records from the sheriff's office and court show Baltimore Police Officer Lt. Brian Rice, a central figure in the arrest of Freddie Gray, was hospitalized three years ago over mental health concerns. He also had his gun confiscated.
The report doesn't indicate how long Officer Rice was hospitalized, but his guns were confiscated, according the Associated Press. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office report quoted Rice as saying he "could not go on like this" and threatened to commit an act. The act itself was censored in the public version of report…
Rice had twice been accused of domestic violence and was temporarily ordered by a court to stay away from the person in the second case…
He faced action in Maryland's civil courts over alleged domestic violence in 2008 and 2013, according to public filings. In both cases, requests for protective orders were denied by the judge. For a week in 2013, Rice was also ordered not to abuse, contact, or go to the home or workplace of the second person who took him to court.

Ex-Marine: When I fought in Irag, I was a patriot -- when I fight for my people, I'm a thug

Former Marine lays it out for CNN reporter.

This man really is a hero, not just because he was a Marine once, but because he's speaking truth to power out on the streets of Baltimore.

To the line of riot police standing before him, he shouted, “We gave our lives for this country! Is this what it’s coming to, man? I love this fucking country, too. Just as much as you do. We’re fighting for a reason, man. I was willing to give my life for this country, man. Look at this community now, man.”

He then compared the police in their riot gear to the enemy abroad. "You’re the same people I went to war with!"

A CNN reporter quickly snagged him for an on-the-spot interview, and he let her have an earful too.
First, he let go about the charges filed against the police officers today, telling the reporter “We got to stop being pacified every time they throw us a bone where they want us to calm down, man. We need to wait for the end result to come in."

"I was willing to give my life for this country," he continued. "When I was in the Marine Corps, they called me a ‘patriot.’ A Marine. But now that I’m fighting for my people they call me a fucking ‘thug.’ They called me a ‘thug’ when I fight for my people,”

At that point, the reporter asked him to sweeten his language, but he was having no part of that, telling her he wouldn't "sweeten up" anything.

Why is it okay for white kids to riot, burn police cars, throw bottles at the cops . . .

In Baltimore, a young black man is being held on $500,000 bond for breaking out the window of a police car.  That's twice the bond for the cops now accused of murder.

What's the difference?

If . . .

Checklist:  When it's okay to riot in America.

Wisconsin Republicans want people using food stamps to stop buying shellfish -- you know, lobster.

Low-income Wisconsin families won’t be able to buy shellfish with food stamps, and will have a much harder time getting basics like dried beans, pasta sauce, and cooking spices into their kitchens, under the latest state-level Republican proposal to tighten the government’s grip on the poor.
A bill proposed by state Rep. Robert Brooks (R) would ban stores from accepting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) cards for lobster, shrimp, and any other form of shellfish, and set a long list of additional rules for the first two-thirds of a recipient’s monthly spending. Lawmakers held a committee hearing Thursday on the bill, which would require a federal waiver to implement.

An average of 420,000 households received SNAP each month in Wisconsin in 2014. The average recipient household got $220 per month from the program last year. Brooks’ restrictions would apply to all but $72.60 per month for the average household affected. And even that amount could not be spent on any form of shellfish.

Gotta watch those food stamp loafers -- pigging out on lobster and filet mignon.  Only in the fevered mind of a Republican.

Republicans want to sell our public lands -- national forests, wilderness areas.

A group of Republican congressmen this week took an aggressive step in a campaign to seize and sell off America’s national forests and other public lands.
In launching what they are calling the “Federal Land Action Group,” Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT) and Rep. Rob Bishop (R-UT) plan to develop a legislative framework for giving states control of America’s public lands. Calling the federal government a “lousy landlord for western states,” Rep. Stewart said “we simply think the states can do it better.”

Bishop, who is also chair of the House Natural Resources Committee, said that “this group will explore legal and historical background in order to determine the best congressional action needed to return these lands back to the rightful owners.”

This latest effort to transfer or dispose of national forests and public lands was immediately blasted by Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), the ranking member on the House Natural Resources Committee, as being unwise, unpopular, and illegal.
