This is why I have lost all respect for Republicans

This is why I have lost all respect for Republicans.  This is NOT how this nation works, however, it IS how the Republican Party works.

I know it will take a few election cycles but I hope I will live long enough to see the day the Republican Party is destroyed -- gone -- forgotten.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) went to the Senate floor Thursday morning to declare that when history looks back on the current Congress, it will "note the Republicans in Congress treated President Obama with unprecedented disrespect."

"President Obama is the first President to be denied a hearing on his budget. He's the first President to be denied a hearing on a Supreme Court nominee. President Obama is the first President asked to show his birth certificate," Reid said on the floor. "President Obama is the first President to face over 500 filibusters here in the Senate. In this Republican Senate, President Obama will receive fewer nominees confirmed than any President in many many decades. Republicans have not done their basic work of government."

The comments were part of a string of political speeches Reid has given on the floor in recent months, as the general election has approached and Congress' productivity has come to a screeching halt. During his speech, Reid blamed Republican obstructionism and political games for laying the groundwork for Donald Trump as the GOP nominee.

"They would have us believe that Trump just fell out of the sky and somehow mysteriously became the nominee of the party, but that's not the way it is," Reid said. "Everything that he's said, stood for, done in this bizarre campaign that he's run has come, filtered up, from what's going on in the Republican Senate." Trump, Reid said, "is the monster Republicans built. He is their Frankenstein monster. They own him," he said.

Why have these terrorists not been arrested?

A North Carolina gun rights group plans to raffle off an AR-15 rifle, 1,000 rounds of ammunition and a picture of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“Of course, we won’t tell you what to do with the photo,” Grass Roots North Carolina stated on the page created to promote the raffle. “But when we ran a picture of Hillary on the front of our newsletter, we heard it was very popular at the range.”

Money from the raffle, which will be held on Election Day (Nov. 8), will be sent to a PAC aimed at defeating Democratic lawmakers.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has, on at least two occasions, used the implied threat of violence when speaking about Clinton.

The first debate

Hillary Clinton beat Trump like a red-headed stepchild.

Whipped him like a borrowed mule.

And he knows it.  He got his ass kicked.

Sa Francisco cops shoot, kill armed white guy. Or did they?

Oh, wait, no, they didn't shoot and kill him.  He's a white guy.  Negotiate with him, disarm him, take him to the nearest mental health facility.

Exit polls show Democrats leading in North Carolina early voting. This is BIG news.

Exit polls show  Democrats have an eight-point lead in the early balloting in North Carolina.
It is a small sample, but this is why Republicans are freaking in North Carolina and nationally:

Democrats always expect to do better in the early vote. Republicans expect to do better in terms of votes cast on election day, but even given that, this eight-point margin for the Democrats is really good. According to the Associated Press, Republicans were leading in early voting at this point in the race four years ago, not Democrats. They had a 43%-38% lead on early ballots at this point in 2012.
Mitt Romney went on to win North Carolina in 2012.

If Donald Trump loses North Carolina, he loses the election. It doesn’t matter what happens in Ohio or Florida or any of the other swing states. If Clinton flips a red state and maintains her “blue wall,” she will win the election.

When one digs down in almost every poll, they can see problems for Donald Trump. Trump is running at levels that are lower than both Mitt Romney and John McCain with key Republican constituencies.

There is a lot of hype building in the media for the upcoming presidential debate. The corporate press has a financial interest in making the election seem close to portray the debate as a make or break moment.

The North Carolina data is a reminder that while there is much more work for Democrats to do, Hillary Clinton is in a very good position.

This election won’t be on the debate stage. The next president will be determined by the campaign that can get their voters mobilized, and the early data from North Carolina suggests that the Democrats’ superior ground game is paying dividends.

Let's have a serious discussion about Donald Trump and why you support him

By now it is clear even to a blind man that Donald Trump is a crook, a liar, a fraud, a carnival barker, and likely an international criminal.  Yet, Republicans continue to support him.  This fact leads to only two possible conclusions:

1.  Republicans are so deeply buried into the rightwing propaganda machine of Fox, Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, Malkin, Jones, and the like that facts simply to do filter through.

2.  Republicans know Trump is a crook, a liar, a fraud, a carnival barker, and likely an international criminal, yet they hate President Obama and Hillary Clinton so fiercely, they are willing to put this nation at risk by installing this man in the White House.

Let's review what we have learned about Trump in the past couple of weeks.

Trump owes his financial empire to Russia.

NEWSWEEK magazine published an article that digs deeply into Trump's foreign connections.  US banks will not lend him money because of his track record of bankruptcies, loan defaults, and failed business ventures.  Thus, Trump is forced to find money where he can and in many cases his financing comes from Russia.  While Newsweek was able to determine that Trump is deeply in debt to Russians, they could not determine exactly to whom in Russia he owes money nor could they determine how much he owes.  However, it is clear Trump owes LOTS of money to Russian mobsters, banks (that are controlled by Putin), and other Russian entities.

This may explain Trump's love affair with Putin.  Putin has Trump over a barrel and Trump responds favorably to Putin.  This fact alone disqualifies Trump from being president because it's clear he will put his own financial interests ahead of the national interests of the US.

And, no, don't tell me he will place his holdings in a blind trust if he's elected.  His son already revealed the family's plans:  If Trump is elected, he'll put all his businesses into a trust held by his children, NOT a blind trust.

Trump uses his "charitable foundation" as a slush fund for bribes and payoffs

Most families or individuals who form a charitable foundation do so with their own money.  These family foundations then make donations to other organizations that are doing charitable or public service work.

Not so with the "Trump Foundation."  Trump solicits donations from other people to his foundation.  Then, he dispenses that donated money to various causes, most of them having nothing to do with charity.
Trump Foundation starts to look like a slush fund

09/20/16 12:35 PM—UPDATED 09/20/16 01:03 PM
By Steve Benen

Just when it seemed the controversy surrounding the Donald J. Trump Foundation couldn’t get any worse, the Washington Post’s David Fahrenthold published new revelations this morning that, if true, suggest serious wrongdoing.

Donald Trump spent more than a quarter-million dollars from his charitable foundation to settle lawsuits that involved the billionaire’s for-profit businesses, according to interviews and a review of legal documents.

Those cases, which together used $258,000 from Trump’s charity, were among four newly documented expenditures in which Trump may have violated laws against “self-dealing” – which prohibit nonprofit leaders from using charity money to benefit themselves or their businesses.

This is hardly the first controversy surrounding Trump’s charitable foundation, but it may be the most damaging for one straightforward reason: it doesn’t require a lot of explanation. As Josh Barro put it, the summary fits in a sentence: “Donald Trump took money other people gave his charity and used it to pay his businesses’ fines.”
Not to put too fine a point on this, but what’s being described here sounds an awful lot like a slush fund.
The New York Times now has picked up the story.

Legal experts say that Trump violated the law, and "it's not even close":
"“That’s way across the line,” said Lloyd Mayer, a professor at Notre Dame Law School who specializes in nonprofit and tax law. “It’s not even close. It’s clearly self-dealing for a private foundation like the Trump Foundation."

Why anyone would give this criminal a second look is beyond me.  But, then, I read and think, I do not simply regurgitate the latest Fox spew and call it wisdom.

With a stroke of his pen, President Obama protects Planned Parenthood forever and, at the same time, slaps the shit out of the idiot "pro-life" jackasses

While the nation was preparing to wax emotional about the terror attacks on 9/11 and Donald Trump was gaining appreciation for “political correctness” in assailing Hillary Clinton’s “bucket of deplorables” remarks, they missed a very important announcement from the Obama Administration.

As has been the case throughout his tenure in the Oval Office, Barack Obama took unilateral action to protect women’s constitutional rights from a rabid and toxic religious Republican attack on Planned Parenthood. It is curious why there has been little to no reporting in the main stream media, because the President’s announcement of a brilliantly simple new rule was actually, as Vice President Joe Biden would say, “a big f*cking deal.”

The “BFD” is a new rule regarding Title X funding that affects the most basic preventive health care and family planning services for over 4 million low-income Americans, 85 percent of whom earn under $23,500 annually. About a third of those patients are served by Planned Parenthood that receives roughly $70 million annually in Title X grants for contraceptives and cancer and sexually transmitted infection screenings. Of course Title X forbids using even one penny for abortion services for any reason.

The Department of Health and Human Services new rule simply says that states are forbidden from withholding Title X family planning money for any reason whatsoever “other than a provider’s ability to deliver services to program beneficiaries in an effective manner.” The bottom line is that theocratic Republican states can no longer even vote to defund Planned Parenthood just because some of its clinics offer abortion services.

Planned Parenthood’s president, Cecile Richards, said:

This will make a real difference in so many people’s lives. Thanks to the Obama Administration, [low income] women will still be able to access the birth control they need to plan their families, and the cancer screenings they need to stay healthy.

The President’s action sent Republican Diane Black (R-TN) into apoplexy, even as she is leading yet another expensive House committee investigation into the fabricated and wildly debunked videos produced by a religious cabal opposed to women’s healthcare and constitutional rights. Black said that the President’s action protecting women’s constitutional rights to choose their reproductive care is a dirty stunt the religious right and United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) are not going to stand for. Ms. Black forgets that America is not governed by the Vatican, and that the U.S. Constitution still forbids Congress from enacting religious edicts. She said in a statement:

We must use the full force of Congress and grassroots strength of the [Catholic] pro-life movement to defeat this absurd rule and prevent the Obama Administration from carrying out political favors and prop up a scandal-ridden abortion provider.”

First, Planned Parenthood is not scandal-ridden like the religious fanatics that fabricated the hoax videos. In fact, two of the theocrats with the evangelical outfit that produced the highly-edited and thoroughly debunked videos, Center for Medical Progress, were indicted by a Texas grand jury that also cleared Planned Parenthood of any wrongdoing whatsoever. Of course, neither Diane Black nor any other religious Republican will ever mention, much less investigate, the scandal-ridden Center for Medical Progress because religious organizations typically enjoy free reign to lie, cheat and steal; particularly if their motivation is punishing women.
Second, and this is a main reason religious Republicans despise President Barack Obama; defending a woman’s Constitutional right to choose her own reproductive care is not a political favor. It is the President of the United States job and sworn duty to defend and protect the Constitution and by extension the American people, including women, it was created to serve. It is not an exaggeration to claim that without Barack Obama in the White House over the past nearly eight years, what few rights women have earned and fought for as American citizens would have been obliterated by patriarchal Republicans and their USCCB and evangelical masters who made it their duty to destroy one state at a time.

Right now, even as Republicans are attempting to demonize and destroy Planned Parenthood, it is the principal organizationon the front line fight” against the devastating effects of the Zika virus on pregnant women that causes “severe, lifelong birth defects.” In fact, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) saidthe primary strategy to reduce Zika-related pregnancy complications is helping women avoid or delay pregnancy through robust family planning and birth control.” Planned Parenthood has been distributing Zika prevention kits and educating women in neighborhoods where the virus is spreading like wildfire. Not surprising in the theocratic South with the most “high-risk states for the mosquito-borne and sexually transmitted virus – Florida, Louisiana and Texas – religious Republicans have voted to block funding for the only organization working to control the infectious disease, Planned Parenthood. President Obama’s “new rule” puts an end to that anti-woman atrocity.

The new Title X rule becomes permanent after a 30-day public comment period, which experts say is certain, and it means a quick end to religious Republicans attacks against Planned Parenthood. As Planned Parenthood’s president said,

“This rule makes it clear that politicians cannot ignore the law as they pursue their [religious] agenda to stop women from getting the care they need.”

The new rule also makes it abundantly clear that President Obama is still leading the fight to protect women’s rights and this time he used a stroke of his pen to permanently protect Planned Parenthood and millions of America’s poor women.

What it means to be a Republican

And that, folks, is what it means to be a Republican.
